Peer Review Process

Contemporary Challenges: The Global Crime, Justice and Security Journal employs a mix of single-anonymous and open peer review, whereby the reviewers identity remains unknown to the author for the duration of the review process. Single-anonymous peer review is a very common process of peer reviewing. The following steps describe the peer-review process.

  1. The article is submitted. The Editor in Chief and Deputy Editor in Chief will send the article to a group of editors who have expertise on the topic. Each group consists of at least two editors who will review the article independently from each other
  2. Throughout step one, the editors inform the Editor-in-Chief about any academic misconduct or problems within the article.
  3. After the reviewing process is finished, the editors will send the article to the Editor-in-Chief and the Deputy Editor in Chief who will decide whether or not the article will be accepted. If it is not, the author will be informed. If it is, the comments and suggestions will be sent to the author who will have four weeks to implement recommended changes.
  4. The revised article will then be content edited by at least two editors. Again the article will be sent to the Editor in Chief and the Deputy Editor in Chief who will send the article with comments and suggestions to the author.
  5. The author will have three weeks to implement recommended changes.
  6. The revised article will then be copy-edited by the editorial board. Again the article will be sent to the Editor in Chief and the Deputy Editor in Chief who will send the article with comments and suggestions to the author.
  7. The author will have three weeks to implement the recommended changes.
  8. The article will then be checked by the Editor in Chief and the Deputy Editor in Chief and the author will be notified of their final successful submission.
